Random Pokémon Picker
Spin the wheel for a random Pokémon and see its types, generation, evolution stage and weak spots. Filter by generation, type or rarity, or draw a team of 6.
This random Pokémon picker spins a wheel and stops on one Pokémon from the full list of 1,025. The result card shows the Pokédex number, the name, the types, the generation and region, the evolution stage, the rarity, the base stats total and the types the Pokémon is weak to. The page is free, it runs online in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and it needs no account or download. It works as a Pokémon generator wheel for all nine generations at once, and every Pokémon in the list has the same chance on every spin. Press Classic 24 or Starters 27 for a shorter list, or use the filters to narrow it.
Pick a random Pokémon in three steps
- Spin. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Space or Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac). The wheel turns and stops on one Pokémon.
- Read the card. It shows the number such as #0683, the name, a badge for each type, and four facts: Generation, Stage, Rarity and Base stats total. Below them, Weak to lists every type that hits the Pokémon for double damage, marked x2, or quadruple damage, marked x4.
- Go on. Spin again draws again. Share result offers to share the result.

The facts are short on purpose. Generation gives the number and the region, so Gen 6 is Kalos. Stage says whether the Pokémon is a baby, a basic form that evolves, a middle stage, fully evolved, or does not evolve at all. Base stats total is the sum of the six base stats, which gives a rough sense of strength and nothing more. Weak to is worked out from the types alone, so an ability such as Levitate, which makes a Pokémon immune to Ground moves, is not counted.
Can 1,025 Pokémon fit on one wheel?
No, and the picker does not pretend they can. A wheel with 1,025 slices is an unreadable disc, so this wheel shows at most 36 slices. When the list is longer than 36, the wheel shows 36 random Pokémon from it and a new set of 36 after every spin. The winner is one of the slices on the wheel, so every Pokémon in the list still has the same chance, 1 in 1,025 when all of them are on. When the list has 36 Pokémon or fewer, every one of them is a slice.
Each slice takes the colour of the Pokémon's first type: orange for Fire, blue for Water, green for Grass. The Slice colours switch in the Entries tab changes between Type colours and Wheel theme.
On a screen 1,280 pixels wide, a name was readable on every one of the 36 slices. The wheel was not measured on a phone, so this page makes no promise about how it reads there. The result card shows the full name either way.

Choose which Pokémon can come up
The wheel opens on All 1,025. In the Entries tab, the Pokémon lists box sits at the top. On phones and tablets there is no side panel, so the same controls sit under the Spin button, with the lists and filters inside Filters and lists.
- Classic 24 is 24 Generation I Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Gengar and Snorlax.
- Starters 27 is the 27 basic starters, three for each generation.
- All 1,025 is every Pokémon from #0001 to #1025.
- Generation, Type, Rarity and Evolution narrow the list. A Pokémon has to pass all four rows, so Gen 1, Fire and Fully evolved together leave 6 Pokémon.
From All, pressing a generation, type or rarity narrows the list to that one. Press more to add them, and press a chosen one again to remove it. The last one cannot be switched off. A Pokémon matches a type if either of its types matches, so Fire also lets in Charizard, which is Fire and Flying. Evolution has three choices: Any stage, Can evolve and Fully evolved.
| Generation | Region | Pokémon |
|---|---|---|
| Gen 1 | Kanto | 151 |
| Gen 2 | Johto | 100 |
| Gen 3 | Hoenn | 135 |
| Gen 4 | Sinnoh | 107 |
| Gen 5 | Unova | 156 |
| Gen 6 | Kalos | 72 |
| Gen 7 | Alola | 88 |
| Gen 8 | Galar | 96 |
| Gen 9 | Paldea | 120 |
The other filters give these counts: Regular 931, Legendary 71 and Mythical 23; Can evolve 457 and Fully evolved 568; Fire 81; Fire and Water together 234; and fully evolved Regular Dragon types 32. The Legendary and Mythical labels come from the data source, PokeAPI. The picker does not decide which Pokémon count as Legendary or Mythical.
The line above the list says how many Pokémon are left, for example "6 Pokémon to draw from". With one Pokémon or none left, Spin is blocked and a message asks you to change the filters.

Under the filters, the Pokémon list has a Find a Pokémon or number box, so "pika" or "#25" finds Pikachu. Every Pokémon has a tick box, and Tick all and Untick all work on the Pokémon the list is showing. A line such as "568 of 568 ticked" counts them. To spin among a handful of your own, press Untick all and tick only those.
A random Pokémon team generator: Team of 6
Under Pokémon per spin, 1 Pokémon, 3 Pokémon and Team of 6 decide how many come up. The Pokémon in one spin are always different from each other, and the extra ones are drawn from the whole list, not only from the 36 slices on the wheel.
A team card lists one row for each Pokémon, with its number and type badges, and then a Team check. The check counts how many types the team covers and lists the shared weak spots: attack types that hit two or more of the team for double damage or more, with a count such as "3 of 6". In the picture below, three of the six are weak to Fighting, Rock and Electric. Copy team copies the names, separated by commas.

The team is a random draw, so it is not a good team. A spin gives six Pokémon with no regard for roles, and the Team check only shows where they overlap. Use it as a starting point, then press Spin again or filter the list until the team suits the game.
Draw once, random nature and the mystery options
- Draw once keeps a Pokémon off the wheel after it is drawn, until you press Reset draws. The Pokémon list marks it "drawn", the line above it counts how many have been drawn, and when the whole list has been drawn, Spin shows "Every Pokémon in this list has been drawn. Press Reset draws."
- Random nature adds a Nature to the result from the 25 natures, for example Adamant or Timid. Each Pokémon in a team gets its own.
- Mystery wheel shows a ? on every slice and turns the type colours off. Mystery result keeps the card hidden until you press Reveal.
- Read aloud speaks the name when a result appears. It shows only in browsers that support speech.
With the default setting, the same Pokémon can come up twice in a row, because every spin is independent. Turn on Draw once to stop repeats across spins.
What people use a random Pokémon picker for
- A team for a playthrough. Pick Team of 6, spin, and play the game with what comes up. Filter to one generation first if the game only has those Pokémon.
- A themed battle. Choose one type and Fully evolved, then give each player a turn with Draw once on, so nobody gets the same Pokémon.
- Something to draw. Spin for a Pokémon, then draw it from memory or from a reference. The card gives a name, types and a number, and no picture.
- A team showdown. Each friend spins for their own Team of 6. Compare the Team checks to see whose team shares the fewest weak spots.
- Who spins. Choose the player with the Random Name Picker, or split a group into teams with the Random Team Generator.
What this picker does not do
- It lists species only. There are no Mega, regional, Gigantamax or other forms, so Alolan Raichu is not a separate pick.
- It shows no abilities, moves, held items, shiny status or artwork. Types, stage, rarity and base stats total are the facts on the card.
- There are no lists for a particular game, such as the Pokémon in one Pokédex, and there is no base stats filter.
- The list has 1,025 species, numbered #0001 to #1025. Pokémon that are not in that data are not on the wheel.
- Copy team copies up to six names. There is no export for a longer list.
- It uses no Pokémon artwork on purpose, so the page shows names and colours only.
Names, types and base stats come from PokeAPI, and the credit is in the Entries panel. This page is fan-made and is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. This page is a Pokémon random generator on a wheel. Press Spin and it stops on one of the 1,025 Pokémon, then shows the number, types, generation, stage, rarity, base stats total and weak spots. Each Pokémon on the list has the same chance.
You can use this page as one and set it up in the Entries tab. Pick a list, narrow it by generation, type, rarity or evolution, and choose 1, 3 or 6 Pokémon per spin. To spin among names you type yourself, use the Spin the Wheel page. A randomizer that rewrites a Pokémon game's files is separate software, and this page does not do that.
Yes. Spin once and draw what comes up. The card shows the name, number and types, but no picture, so look up a reference first. Turn on Draw once and spin again for a different Pokémon each time. The What to Draw Wheel offers other drawing prompts.
Yes, up to six at a time. Under Pokémon per spin, choose 3 Pokémon or Team of 6. The Pokémon in one spin are always different, and Copy team copies the names. For a longer list, turn on Draw once and keep spinning.
There is nothing to download. The picker runs online in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer, it is free, and it needs no account.
Yes. Choose Team of 6 under Pokémon per spin. The card lists six different Pokémon with their types and a Team check that counts the types covered and names the weak spots shared by two or more of them. The draw is random, so it does not choose a balanced team.
Yes, with the mystery options. Mystery wheel puts a ? on every slice, and Mystery result keeps the card hidden until you press Reveal. The name still appears at the end, because the page has no artwork to show instead. The picker only draws real Pokémon and does not make up names.
It is not a smash or pass game, and it keeps no votes or scores. It can supply the Pokémon: turn on Draw once and spin one at a time, so no Pokémon appears twice. The card shows a name and types, not a picture. You decide out loud what each one is.
No. The picker does not show abilities, moves or items. The card shows the types, generation, stage, rarity, base stats total and weak spots, and Random nature can add one of the 25 natures.
Every Pokémon in the list has the same chance on every spin. The wheel shows 36 random Pokémon of a longer list and the winner is one of them. Each spin is independent, so a Pokémon can repeat unless Draw once is on.
All 1,025 Pokémon from #0001 to #1025, across Generations 1 to 9. Mega, regional and other forms are not separate entries. Use the filters to narrow the list to a generation, type, rarity or evolution stage.
